Xipe Totec, an important ancient Mesoamerican deity known as "Our Lord the Flayed One". Represents Xipe Totec, the god of agriculture, spring, and rebirth. Associated with Aztec, Mexica, and broader Mesoamerican traditions. The bumpy, textured suit depicts flayed human skin. This symbolizes the husk of a maize seed peeling away to reveal new growth underneath. The shedding skin represents the renewal of the earth and vegetation at the start of the rainy season.
