also fyi if a young person asks you about something that they were never taught (rotary phones, floppy disks, how to write a cursive G) and you're rude or make fun of them ONCE they will remember it forever and never ask you anything ever again
teens will never treat you like you're one of them because you aren't one of them. what you should be aiming for is cool adult who they can trust not to be weird to them
i am perpetually disappointed by my fellow millennials for immediately turning into boomers the second they hit 30 and a teen made a snarky comment about their hair and outfits

Vault used some method - probably a laser - to remove the oxide coating from one side of the mylar disk, making it impossible to write to.

You are in luck, it's a very easy thing to do. Get a floppy disk drive, get some floppy disks that you can read and write. Write the launcher data to the floppy disk, basically just call the executable or call the steam ID, and then configure the floppy disk drive to Auto open whatever is inserted.

so I got Final Draft running on the Macintosh SE I picked up at this weekend’s SoCal Vintage Computer Festival.
I can now write a screenplay on the SE and save it to my modern Mac with the floppy disk adapter I have, open the file in modern final draft, and submit it for work

bring back storing your fic on floppy discs so you can write it at school
all American schools should ban phone use during class hours, but we CAN compromise by bringing back Internet-connected computer labs where the nerd kids can retreat to look at fanfic during lunch

In middle school, my friends and I would write Inuyasha fics and save them to floppy disks that we would trade amongst each other to read lol
