Oh for sure, and these days I'm having worse issues with EVgo

EAs new hardware is pretty good, and their old hardware is finally getting taken care of. Outside of the Pilot/FlyingJ deployments, EVgo's reliability is... questionable atm

This is a first I've ever seen in a truck stop shower. Would be handy if I had a hangover lmao.

Pilot/FlyingJ has also really built their network out recently.

Unfortunately the other unit also gives an OCCP error when I try to use my ChargePoint RFID and times out in the app. Fortunately seems like CPOs have figured out CC readers in general

2 hours held up by a wreck and the plug on this flyingJ charger was cantankerous to seat in my car. But will be leaving soon with a full belly and empty bladder.

Random night photos of Travel Centers. Always happy to stop at one for a rest break, bathroom break and coffee break. #RoadTrip #CarTravel #Highway #Interstate #RoadWarrior #TravelCenter #Turnpike #TruckStop #TravelPlaza #Loves #Pilot #FlyingJ #TA #HolbrookNM #MorongoTravelCenter #LasCrucesNM

You sound unaware that most Pilot/FlyingJ's have charging. With a 260mi range car (avg range is pushing 300 today) you can basically take i-40 and only use FlyingJ.

Its not 2019 anymore, the last time this argument was valid in the US.

Happy yo expound more. I have over 360,000 miles logged.

Always cool to hear @scarson45 over the speakers when shopping... Today's was at #FlyingJ travel plaza on the way home. #TakeYouHome

Right now most FlyingJ/Pilot travel centers on I-40 are charging hubs under the GM Energy brand.

I can assure you chargers exist as I've ridden I-95 from Philly to Key West on a 130-mi range EV motorcycle & driven I-70 to CO Springs & Pikes Peak w/ a 204-mi Audi EV... 5 years ago.

The place you go to wash your windshield and fill your tires with air when you're out and about!

Yup, big fan of the pull thru.

Take heart cause each day another station goes up and another excuse fades away. I can make it across NC and TN using only Pilot/FlyingJ stations now. No more Walmarts.

After day 2 of roadtripping with the dog and older kid, I will say that I am a huge fan of gas station chargers. I stopped at 2 Circle K chargers and 4 Pilot/FlyingJ EVgo stations, as well as two Electrify Americas that happened to be at gas stations. Gas stations are optimized for quick in-and-out.

I have really good friends, one asked me to babysit his Energica SS9+ motorcycle for the rest of the summer. Picked it up the other day, & charged the towhead at this new GM Energy / FlyingJ. Pricey, & only 1 of the 4 plugs worked across the 2 chargers, but not having to unhook trailer is life.

Today is National Pizza Day:
1) Fuck. Yes.
2) $2 slices at Pilot/FlyingJ
I used to eat their pizza before I went vegan, its not the worst shit in the whole wide world.
What a great fukkin holiday! Go nuts!!

Backtracking. Chevron next to the Jack is up north a bit in Lebec. Which is also getting a flyingj. The arco there is supposedly getting a zero60. The Skycharger megasite is supposed to be in lebec. So I dunno!🤷‍♂️

Technically an EV6 RWD or an Ioniq 6 could go from Wilmington to LA across I-40 using only Pilot/FlyingJ rest stops. There's two gaps of >270 miles (Arkansas and California) that would necessitate a 300mi range. But other networks fill those gaps too.

Pilot/FlyingJ chargers are expensive (~$0.60/kWh vs ~$0.45/kWh for EA w/Pass+) but honestly, I am happy to pay that premium for bathrooms I can get to within 5 minutes. Especially with a kid who wants to wander around eating plowed snow after going to the bathroom.
February 24, 2025 at 7:00 AM
That said, I agree that if you can make a fast stop possible while making a longer stop nice, that's best. Lots of FlyingJ locations have fast food attached, which usually has inside seating. Covered charging is also huge for making staying in/near your car comfortable, even for 15 minutes.

I posted a rant video asking why Pilot/FlyingJ did not design then ALL as pull thrus. Any other configuration is stupid at a travel plaza.
