what i don't get about apple is why they would abandon their strategy of waiting to see how the market responds to other products, like foldables, only to jump into a very controversial market segment in an always-on AI device when everyone else trying to make that product has humiliatingly flopped

Foldables are in and suddenly really thin
the passport style 4:3 format seems like the thing that will make foldables finally make sense for a wide audience but like every new cool gadget getting a massive ramageddon price bump this stuff is landing at the worst possible time
Every foldable phone involves a bunch of messy compromises between the shape and size of the two screens. Samsung's Z Fold 8 might be my favourite compromise yet.

i just think there;s something deranged about a full sized outside screen then a double sized inside screen. a 3 screened phone? can we not simply be satisfied? this is why the flip style foldables are morally superior devices
