Drawing Le Monde Journal typeface in the early 90s was facing an approximation on the screen of this kind (Fontographer on MacOs9). The laser printer was indispensable in the creative process!

This presentation by @marksimonson.bsky.social recall about drawing fonts on screens with such poor resolution back in end of 80 + 90s. This should push us to look differently at these typefaces designed in this period (with Fontographer). It seems so simple today.

I used Fontographer, also about 20 years ago, to turn my own handwriting (and my mom’s) into fonts. A quick search shows that Fontographer’s still going!

Can't resist this trivia 💙: PNH created the front and back covers on his Macintosh SE, to demonstrate to Tor publisher Tom Doherty "the convenience and capability of then-still-new "desktop publishing" software. I created the swishy title typography in a Mac application called Fontographer"

This was back in Fontographer days. Made and billed for a custom font. When they called back at reprint because they didn't have the font....

I was looking at this font I never used for Society For Science and thinking it would make a fun layered functional font. I haven’t built an actual font since Fontographer way back around 1996. #typography #graphicdesign #sciArt

Fetch, the FTP client for the Mac, launched on September 1, 1989 (in the era of Illustrator 88, QuarkXPress, FileMaker, and Fontographer). It's still going 30 years later because it simply just works.

Freehand, xRes, Fontographer, Flash, Dreamweaver etc.
(Dogma, it's been 20 years!)
And TBF, Macromedia killed xRes themselves.
