This little painting on a wooden plate, now attributed to Pieter Bruegel the Elder, illustrates the Flemish proverb that a person who acts like a pig (often a drunkard) belongs in the pigsty. Here, a man in his underclothes gets pushed into a shed where pig feeds on foodscraps (1567)

Our county has a free food scraps drop-off program in 8 locations to help reduce waste. The food scrapes turn into nutrient rich compost & reduce waste ending up in our landfills. Especially nice for apartment dwellers or others who cannot compost. #FoodScraps #WasteReduction

Finding myself wishing I had rats again so I could feed them my foodscraps and watch them gratefully tear them apart like the lovely little carrion munchers that they are. Then again. I can usually just give them to my girlfriend for a similiar effect. 🤔

Someone recently asked about growing food from kitchen scraps. Here is my little allium garden grow from the root bottoms of onions, leeks, & green onions as well as any sprouted garlic and onions I find.

I can't fathom reading things with an attitude that will never let me feel disappointment. How are you meant to be excited at someone's ingenuity if you will eat whatever base foodscraps are in your trash can

I haven't tried your method yet - sounds interesting though. What's the benefit of freezing foodscraps before taking them outside?

Yeah unfortunately the same guys who want to bring AI to the forefront also deeply believe in some pseudo-Libertarian world where they are the techno-barbarian kings of their fiefdoms and no one gets foodscraps until the help the corporation.

I have a worm farm outside the kitchen door for foodscraps and I do have to hope that the worms don't mind being 90% coffee grounds by volume.

Myth: Citrus peels don’t belong in compost. 🍊

Truth: They’re totally fine! Despite what you may have heard, citrus breaks down just like other scraps—and adds a fresh scent too. Toss that grapefruit peel in! 🌱 #composteverything #foodscraps #grapefruit

When faced with wildlife attracted to roadside snacks, drivers most commonly swerve, "though this action can cause them to lose control, leading to crashing into a tree, rolling over, or crossing into oncoming traffic," says Demanda.

On my first trip to the US I was stunned to find that a "sports bar" means you're "free" to hurl foodscraps on the floor as you eat peanuts or whatever.

I never wished I could throw food on the floor, but apparently these men had been oppressed?

Was that an EO? How does something like that start?
