Bees have a foregut called a crop. They store nectar there & regurgitate it when they return to the hive. Nectar in the crop is never digested. Bees do eat nectar and honey! They also eat flowers, fungus, insect eggs, and pollen. But what they eat goes in their actual stomach not their crop.

Because cattle are foregut fermenters (ruminants) they can thrive on lower quality forage than horses and indeed some breeds (like Kerry cattle) will even browse low branches of trees like giant goats.

Here's a caterpillar gut. The long green portion is the foregut, full of freshly-consumed leaf material. The brown section is the midgut, where the leaf material is oxidized, causing the color change. Ph there is around 11.5 🧪🌿
