Our feature tutorial/artist for today is this SERIOUSLY HELPFUL page on drawing your CHARACTERS in PERSPECTIVE, by the talented @miyuliart! Thinking of the forms as a series of ANGLED PLANES is an excellent way to help you see how different views EXPAND/REDUCE DIFFERENT surfaces!

Hoar Frost

Forms when the air is still and cold, usually on clear winter nights. Water vapour in the air condenses on solid surfaces, and as the surface temperature drops below 0°C, ice crystals form.

Also blood drops forms in spheres that can bounce off flat surfaces!

Few things drive me as crazy as people thinking bike racks should be cute public art projects. Bonus points for designers who have apparently never actually tried to actually use a u-lock in their lives...

The shapes of Maxwell Mustardo’s ceramic works evoke ancient forms, although their surfaces feel distinctly organic.

Two similar mug forms with very different surfaces. Busy glazing this week (and next)
I’ll probably post new stuff to the shop in a couple weeks… I’ll keep you posted here and on IG with date & time. Cheers! .

The palm is not flat and forms an arch instead. You can observe this the best in finger surfaces – each of them faces a slightly different direction. #anatomy #3Dmodeling #characterdesign

Chimpanzees can distinguish crystals from ordinary stones, showing a preference for transparent surfaces and regular geometric forms. The study authors suggest this demonstrates a shared preference with quartz-collecting hominins of the Pleistocene! 🧪

Rime ice is a really cool looking ice that forms when supercooled water droplets freeze onto surfaces.

Soft rime forms when in calm wind conditions.
Hard rime forms moderate wind conditions.

I thought I’d share how I’m using the new Low to Low baking mode and bevel shader in @marmoset3d.bsky.social Toolbag 5.

The bevel shader does more than just smooth out edges, it also blends surfaces between objects, so you can create complex forms by using simple shapes and primitives. 1/7

...it forms a sticky goop.

4. Jif (aka Cif) an oven cleaner cream which is highly alkyline. Can clean off aforementioned sticky goop after cleaning and neutralises lead surfaces to avoid lead rot. Also makes them smell nice.

Happiness comes in many forms.

Finding fungus growing inside one of your large-format camera lenses is not among them.

Crevassed on Mars

This observation is part of a global campaign to look at glacier-like forms that show crevasse-like fractures on their surfaces. This image will also be useful for a study of fracture mechanics in viscous flow features on Mars.
