'Ways to say goodbye' Ariel Schlesinger Aluminum and glass, 2019 Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park Grand Rapids, Michigan August 2026 A silver toned tree, bare of leaves, with triangular pieces of clear glass amidst the bare branches, reaches for the cloudy sky, from a backdrop of greenery. What you can't see is the details in the tree itself- cross stitches holding parts of the trunk together, vines running up and through, and more. This sculpture was gifted by the Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids and the Pestka family, in memory of Holocaust survivor Henry Pestka(1919-2013) and the six million+ lost in the Holocaust.

Chihuly's 'Float Boat', 2014 A wooden Boat filled with brightly colored blown glass balls in varying sizes, shapes and so, so many colors. In the background are Chihuly's 'Niijima Floats', 2012-2021, brightly colored blown glassware shaped floats. This is all set in a mirror smooth pond, whereupon on the left, extending into the water, is a peninsula, with a Japanese stone lantern at the water edge. Trees and rocks line the far bank.
