It’s been scary in library-land for a while. Books bans have risen each of the last 3 years, attacks on librarians’ professionalism and integrity are growing, and so is fear. We need community support for the freedom to read. #freepeoplereadfreely

It's not just my opinion. Studies show that access to diverse books positively impacts children's reading scores. This fabulous study from First Book explains this in detail.

Successful readers read widely, and that means reading all kinds of books.

I discovered that wearing a sticker with a QR code when you want people to oppose a national book ban bill produces immediate results. I attended an event, and people scanned and sent letters to their reps on the spot.

You can easily send a letter, too, at www.bookweb.org/advocacy-act....

If you don't have a library card, go get one. They're free!
Your local library is a vital community hub, promotes literacy & a love for reading, getting a card & using it is a great way to help your library and read for free.
