I believe that having sex for money is not a crime; it’s an issue of sexual liberation and bodily autonomy. That laws against trans ppl and sex workers are unjust. I believe that the ability to break the law is a mandatory component of any truly free society.
In other words, I’m a #FriendOfViolet.

Similar to how "friends of Bill" and "friends of Dorothy" are shorthands, #FriendsOfViolet are those who support private money, especially for trans people, sex workers, and trans sex workers.

I've been writing Zcash specifications and code for just over a decade. My north star is "making privacy usable": taking best-in-class privacy technologies and making them accessible to everyone.
Privacy is not just for those who can buy it.

I'm in such incredible company in this photo: @awaywithavery.com, Kate Stapleton, @eveevangeline.bsky.social , @mylo-bennett.com, and Justine. This is the team that helped many dozens of people learn about how @z.cash protects sex workers from financial discrimination and surveillance.

At DevConnect in Buenos Aires, Violet Rollergirl sits down with Ryan to tell her story. She dismissed Bitcoin in 2009 because, for one thing, a fully public ledger felt unsafe. Years later she came to @z.cash because it's electronic cash that's truly private.
Now she teaches it. (Recorded in 2025.)
