This year’s pumpkin carving depicts the Fusang tree from the Wu Liang Shrine (Wu Liang Ci), whose stone relief carvings date to the Eastern Han dynasty, 151 CE. For me, its mythology is about connecting great distances.

In ancient Chinese mythology, the Fusang Tree rivals the Norse World Tree, yet grows from a very different vision of the cosmos.

Described as two colossal mulberries entwined, Fusang cradles the Golden Crow, the sun itself, as it rises each dawn. It is not a lonely pillar

holding heaven above earth, but a living bridge between worlds, where light, life, and time renew in harmony.

Through Fusang, the ancients imagined a universe sustained not by domination from above, but by connection, balance, and eternal return.

Starting the month off with a spooky gal 💀 🍁

In present day, she is called the Tea Maker. Older folks know her by her original name; The Weeping Widow.

A real solarian, or just a character from ancient folklore? No one really knows.

#Review of Journey to Fusang by William Sanders
An alt-history romp at first, a con artist gets into hijinks in a Muslim/Chinese-centered New World. Comedy is broad but amusing. Only significant woman is cardboard-thin. Takes a wild swing into war and death 2/3 in, for the worse.

Night descends and our light is already faded.
Right and wrong fade away in the twilight.
The sky is getting dark.
No one's at fault,
For we are only Sols.

Nine Sols has catapulted itself into the ranks of my favourite games, so I wanted to do some fanart for it <3

The question remains in the Book of Boats
whether Fusang is coast of Oregon,
so I drive my Chevrolet to herd goats,
then crown myself Crow King of Avalon,
since Jimmu taught me how to shoot yew bow
while standing nobly in the swirling snow.

Might end up having to redo the shading or smth since it's looking kinda rough rn but the root scar idea owns tbh. giggles

They have no connection to the Fusang, and by luck are immune to the Tianhuo Virus. But this lack of connection makes them feel "hollow, empty, like they are and should not be".

This all ends with Yi slowly healing in the Fusang. Ji managed to seal off the Research center, trapping Eigong inside. The 4 Seasons Pavilion was also sealed, with Heng using the sanctum to survive. Ji once again returns to the Grotto, awaiting Yi's return. Ok, I'm done rambling.

Ji ended up befriending Heng during her time spent in the Grotto. He found her gentle, peaceful nature comforting, and enjoyed her musings the Fusang. Through her, Ji allies with Yi and seeks to make amends for past mistakes.
