I said yes to this because I knew it would fill me, not consume me, I would learn something, & it would be reciprocal (paraphrasing Eve Tuck). It has. I am learning about different areas of research, tribes, how people are using their education to support Natives, & more🧵 #FullCircleSymposium

A student (from Brazil!) noted that younger students introduce themselves with a brief description of their tribes & that more senior researchers don't. I am so happy they are doing that! Who we are & where we come from influences our research, & the next gen knows it 💜🧵 #FullCircleSymposium

@willowcoyote.bsky.social came to this Uni bc they said in the *offer letter* that they would support this Symposium. I didn't know something like this could exist as an incoming grad student, & this student had it in writing! I am so hopeful for the next gen of #NativesInSTEM!🧵

Anyway, I am so ready for today to start & for my head & heart to be filled. Thank you again to the organizers & to the solid mix of mentees and mentors speaking & attending the #FullCircleSymposium. Even with the world burning around us, I am hopeful.

My favorite thing is just being with other Native scientists. There are so few of us that many of us are the only in our dept/program. I know I felt like the only in my field as a grad student. I love that these undergrad/grad students are meeting other Natives in their fields 🧵 #FullCircleSymposium
