Global Advanced Nanomaterials & Carbon Composites Market: Segment Analysis 2023–2031
The advanced carbon materials market size is projected to reach US$ 48.20 billion by 2031 from US$ 27.79 billion in 2023; the market is expected to register a CAGR of 7.1% during 2023–2031. Advanced carbon materials—encompassing carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene, carbon fibers, fullerenes, carbon foam, and structural graphite—deliver exceptional electrical conductivity, mechanical tensile strength, thermal management properties, and ultra-lightweight characteristics. These high-performance engineered nanomaterials and structural composites are heavily utilized across lithium-ion battery energy storage systems, aerospace flight structures, conductive electronics, lightweight automotive components, and industrial thermal barriers.

I was on ChemComm when the fullerenes came to the fore...we had the paper from Harry K. The Kraetschmer paper was with Nature...we didn't technically fast-track it, but we worked on it diligently from refereering to proofs. I think Nature still beat us by a week (we were fortnightly)

The spinning blurred early X-ray images, making precise atomic mapping difficult. Olmstead helped overcome this by co-crystallizing them w/host molecules to hold the spheres in place. Her crystallographic work produced clear structures of fullerenes, advancing #nanotechnology research.

Halite, because Geologists believe you should eat one small rock each day.

Alternatively Graphite, but only talk about graphene, fullerenes, nanotubes, and carbon black (because minerals are definitionally naturally occurring, not artificial nor worked forms).

Halite - Graphite is the dream final.
