AB 131, which just passed with the budget, exempts High Speed Rail design changes and maintenance facilities from CEQA. Now the legislature just needs to guarantee fixed Cap and Trade $$ to enable private investment, get HSR out of the valley, and #FinishTheLine! #FundHighSpeedRail

Want more success stories like Caltrain electrification? We need to #FundHighSpeedRail so we can make SF-LA high speed rail a reality, electrify Metrolink, and electrify Caltrain to Gilroy!
And it was funded by California high speed rail grants,
NEW: Ridership is up by over 40% on the Bay Area’s recently electrified @caltrain.com!

Thanks to local, state, and federal investments, California is on track to providing clean, affordable, and convenient mobility to all.

Glad to see Newsom putting money where his mouth is and committing to #FundHighSpeedRail. While we'd love to see more details, guaranteed funding from Cap and Trade will allow CA High Speed Rail to access private financing and build more, faster.
“Cap and invest” proposal from Gov. Newsom is out. Extension through 2045, proceeds to the general fund for wildfire cost reimbursement, $1B for high speed rail annually, plus utility bill credits:

The Trump administration has publicly-funded high speed rail in its crosshairs. Fortunately California High Speed Rail is much farther along and harder to kill - laying track on 119 miles, with support from Gov. Newsom and the public. Let's #FundHighSpeedRail to keep it moving, whatever Trump says.
The US DOT cancelled its $63.9 m grant to Amtrak for the Texas high-speed rail project, saying that the project must be privately financed if it is to move forward.

Likely outcome: The administration killed the possibility of high-speed rail from Dallas to Houston.
