Sebastian Fundora has told World Boxing News that fights against rivals Errol Spence Jr. or Terence Crawford were never close to happening.

Sebastian Fundora retains his title with a seventh-round stoppage of Tim Tszyu, who was left unresponsive in a shocking scene after the fight.

I obsess so you don't have to

Sebastian Fundora will have to drop the WBO super welterweight title after being suspended from competing for six months by Nevada.

WBC junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) scored the most definitive victory of his career when he stopped Tim Tszyu (25-3, 18 KOs) before the start of the eighth round. When Tszyu walked over to his corner at the end of the seventh round, they did not like what they saw and called for the fight to be stopped. Tszyu admitted that Fundora is tough and the best fighter at 154. In the opening round, Fundora was pumping that right jab while Tszyu was doing a ton of foot feints to see what would work.

Two years ago, following his emphatic knockout of Tony Harrison in Sydney—an impressive performance that secured the interim WBO super-welterweight title—Tim Tszyu stood triumphant before a raucous home crowd. In a moment that fused bravado with theatrical finality, he seized the microphone, steadied his gaze, and proclaimed with visceral intensity: “I’ve got one sentence. What’s my motherf*cking name?” The crowd, electrified and unrestrained, roared back in unison: “Tim F*cking Tszyu!” His ambition extended far beyond capturing a world title on home soil. Tszyu (25-3, 18 KOs)  aspired to global eminence—to become not merely a champion, but a transcendent figure in the sport: a fearless gladiator, a man who would rather perish than yield, one who appeared impervious to damage and capable of matching fire with fire.

With contracts signed in the blood spilled in their hellacious meeting from March 2024, Saturday’s rematch between WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (22-1-1, 14 KOs) and Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (25-2, 18 KOs) at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand promises to be another fan friendly affray. If the words of each fighter are anything to believe, the brutal first encounter that saw Fundora come in as a late replacement on 11 days’ notice to win a split decision (112-116, 115-113, 116-112), could well be eclipsed, or at the very least equaled, by the time the final bell tolls in Sin City.

With just over two weeks to go until fight night in Las Vegas, Tim Tszyu opened the doors to Tszyu Fight Club in Rockdale for his final Sydney media workout — offering an insight into the mindset, motivation and momentum driving his mission to rewrite the story against Sebastian Fundora. The former world champion flies to the US on July 4 to acclimatise ahead of his July 20 (AEST) world title rematch at the iconic MGM Grand, in what he describes as a “vengeance year” and the next chapter of a lifelong dream.
