Shortened G5RV Antenna - DX Power in a Smaller Package
A compact, multi-band wire antenna based on the legendary G5RV design —specifically, a shortened version of G5RV antenna optimized for the 14-50 MHz range.

Not bad for a G5RV dipole, at almost ground level, and 150W... Sometimes I noticed too much competition, it seemed more like a Contest than an Award. 906 CW QSOs overall. #hamradio #AmateurRadio #Radioaficionados

Kid goes back through to Glasgow after the holidays today.
Currently she is at the shops buying food. I wait, chasing pota and wwa stations until she returns!

Watch this space between trees. My el cheapo council friendly mast has arrived disguised as a 30 foot flagpole and when the rain has stopped and I can get outside, it will allow me to re-erect my G5RV in a nice DX friendly NW/SE configuration.

I did Australia with about 10w JT65 and a G5RV jnr, phone on 5w would have to be Brazil, Antigua and Guadeloupe about 4.5k miles with an endfed about 5m above ground.

Back up on HF again with a full fat G5RV antenna. Ladder line feed all the way to the tuner. Loads up 160 (reluctantly)-10M. It will do 6M, but I already have a Halo for that. So it's up, at least until the old barn is demolished.

This geomagnetic storm is rough. CFRX and CHU weak, WWV only on 10 MHz. Reception here is so bad it's like someone replaced my sky loop antenna with a G5RV antenna :)
