#GBFS

My favourite onscreen comedy “romance” is this one of him and Sarah Paulson, and I want to believe that they’re GBFs in real life

I emailed my contacts at the city and Lyft, and they updated the gbfs feed to include the charging station indicator

The UI needs polish for sure, I was mostly focused on getting the backend working. But it's indicative of where we are heading that someone like me can do this with very little experience in the subject area. Like, idk how gtfs, gbfs etc even work

Lime Canada uses the General Bikeshare Feed Specification (GBFS) that allows third parties to integrate navigation with their systems (Google or Apple Maps for example). But GBFS is full open so anyone can hit the API and get data on the vehicles for Victoria here is the API endpoint.

Unfortunately evo doesn't make use of the GBFS and their system seems completely closed so no third party apps can use them for navigation or anything else.
September 11, 2026 at 10:39 PM
Evo doesn't share data via GBFS unfortunately, so their stats are a mystery
September 9, 2026 at 5:33 PM
Yes, you need to ping the GBFS every 60s or so and count differences at each station to get trips.
September 9, 2026 at 4:29 PM
Nice! How are you using the GBFS data to count trips? Maybe our data in Halifax is missing things, it’s my understating it only coveys stations and available vehicles/bikes, not anything about their movements.

Do daily inferred activity reports via sampling GBFS station status still track monthly operator-published reports *?

Notably>100 stations in TO or 30 Bixi MTL report no usage on a typical day.

Looking for similar daily #realtime for #Citibike #bikeshare #bikeNYC (without waiting 6 weeks).

Oh very nice. My tool runs exclusively on the GBFS feeds, I don't want to have to pull in an additional data source. I bet you could re-create my trip counting tool, with what you have, I'm just querying the stations every ~60 seconds and counting bikes to infer trips.

Lime bike shares publishes a public feed of available bikes using the General Bikeshare Feed (GBFS). By following this feed you can determine the number of trips in the network by station. For #VictoriaBC #yyj the API endpoint is data.lime.bike/api/partners...

I'm like 99% certain it should be possible to locate these using GBFS.

The question is can I get @tomflood.bsky.social a map of them in time for his arrival.
Toronto's new eBike Share bikes are 🔥🔥🔥

1. Grey colour- Whole bike is reflective
2. Adaptive shifting
3. Built in phone holder
4. And ability to lock without a docking station for quick stops (at shops etc...)

These are things that make choosing a bike way easier.

And their Lyft GBFS feed doesn't publish the optional 'is_charging_station' bool for stations either. Doh.
