When the upstairs flooded my apartment, water came through my hallway light and bathroom light switch. My GFCI outlet went offline for a week.

Can a competent handyman check that these things pose no electrical fire arcing or whatever danger or does a real, dedicated electrician need to be called?

Just curious, how do you handle the time keeping super capacitor and the power supply (from what I understand bad soldering on the power input from one manufacturer, Microsoft sent out GFCI replacement cords as a fix)?

I had a similar experience with a non-GFCI bathroom outlet in Stranger Things season one

Like damn, if I knew I could just be a girl when I was younger that could have fixed so much for me instead of feeling trapped, depressed, and sewercidal. Guess It's fine now though because I've got cool friends and I'm a quirky furry faggot with a hot sona. Thank god for GFCI outlets I guess.

Perfectly safe due to changes in the electrical codes, and the use of GFCI outlets in bathrooms.

See? Electrical design can be political at times. ^_^

Note to self: Plug the chest freezer in the garage into a non-GFCI outlet. Eeeeuwwww.

What prompted this was a post where someone was charged more for dishwasher install by a big-box store than the purchase price. (Apparently this is also because dishwasher code changed to require a switch cutoff within 4 feet, GFCI, etc.) I'm sure this happens with disposals too.

bar receptacles not gfci protected, unknown breaker source. as-built prints are wrong. trace it to adjacent panel. panel L2 circuit 32 instead of KL2-32. whoever did this tied the bar outlets into an exterior station circuit that months ago i could not figure out the issue with

Wife: treadmill I want is on sale for 50% off.

Me: $1k? Let’s get it

{plugs that bad boy in and GFCI outlet flips}

Me: ok. So it looks like we need a dedicated 20 amp? How much could that cost?

Electrician: alright, this bad boy is humming! That will be $1,400.

London Slips In Global FinTech Rankings As Asian Hubs Gain Ground
London has dropped from fifth to sixth in the global FinTech rankings, according to the latest Global Financial Centres Index 40 (GFCI 40), even as the city retains its position as the world's second-leading financial centre behind New York. The index, which assesses the competitiveness of 117 financial centres worldwide, places Hong Kong at the top of the FinTech rankings, followed by New York, Shenzhen, Singapore, and Shanghai — with London falling behind as Asia-Pacific hubs continue to strengthen their positions. Leo Labeis, CEO and Founder of London-based RegTech firm REGnosys, says the findings are a wake-up call for the UK, but also an opportunity. "London holding onto its position as the world's second-leading financial centre reflects the depth of its markets and regulatory expertise," said Labeis. "But falling to sixth in the FinTech rankings is a reminder that this position isn't guaranteed, particularly as financial centres across Asia-Pacific continue to gain ground." Labeis points to RegTech as an area where London could reassert its competitive edge. He highlights the Bank of England and FCA's ongoing work to harmonise transaction and post-trade reporting across MiFIR, EMIR and SFTR as a strong foundation to build upon. "Reducing duplication and making reporting simpler and more consistent could save firms millions in compliance costs, while also giving regulators better quality data," he said. However, Labeis warns that regulatory reform alone will not be enough. "If the UK wants to remain a leading global financial and technology centre, there needs to be greater government support for R&D and investment in RegTech. Backing the sector will help UK firms develop and scale the technology that can make our markets more efficient, while strengthening London's position as competition between financial centres intensifies."

(Continued since replies are character limited)

- and finally, the GFCI in the outlet on the right might actually be wired so the test/reset buttons actually turn off anything controlled by the switch(es) on that circuit.
