5. Speaking of that last scene, when Asa comes and gives Anthony cocoa, he asks how the "celestial bodies" are. Now, english isn't my first or second language, so I might misunderstand things here. But of all the words/expressions he could have used to refer to the stars and planets and other space "thingies", to choose words which have double meanings, and for those to happen to be a) celestial, which can also mean angels and demons, and b) bodies, as in groups of persons???? How can I then not think of the group of the two of A & C? 6. Anthony (after clarifying he is looking at the eta aquarid meteor shower), says "we can see it with the naked eye", and what do WE happen to see with the naked eye in that moment? Asa and Anthony. And when we connect that with "celestial bodies" as potentially meaning "group of celestials", I cannot help but think we are meant to take it as Asa and Anthony still being A & C. Does that mean for sure they are both still celestials? I don't know. And frankly, I don't really care. Because even if they are 100% human, and there is no afterlife where they might reunite as their past selves before going back to be reborn again and again (which is a theory I LOVE), even then, them becoming humans in no way means A & C are gone. Yes, they both are different, but not in a "they died & got replaced by doppelgangers". Rather, they have changed. Just like C changed when he fell and became a demon. I doubt anyone could claim that his past angel self died & a demon twin took his place. So I don't think it should be different here. I think it is beautiful, even. Both of them free to exist without having to worry about a potential new apocalypse or meddling from heaven and hell, in a world with actual free will? That is exactly what was needed to make sure they could love each other openly and have the kind of peaceful life they both craved for.

1. I see parallels with S2's Job minisode, when his children were said to have been killed and replaced with new ones who just happened to look like the old ones, when in fact the old children had been saved. Them being called Job's new children was a lie, or more like, a ruse. Just like A & C being given new names, and being shown as humans. 2. Satan talking to God and recalling someone telling him "I have a better idea : let's not, and say that we did". Including that line in that moment seems deliberate to me. And what could it mean? Why include it, if not to make us think God just CLAIMS that A & C will not be able to experience this new godless universe? 3. God says herself A's love for C always made her smile. So it would make sense to me, that she would preserve them both, and find a way to include them in this new universe so they can still make her smile. Especially when we see not just them, but also Derek, as well as Michael, Uriel, Muriel, Eric, etc, in the pub where Asa & Anthony are having dinner. Clearly they can exist in this world, maybe not as celestials. But that doesn't mean they are not themselves, otherwise why place them all in the same place at the same time? Seems pretty significant to me. 4. I will not go into all the things I didn't like about S3, most of them (if not all) come from That Horrible Person and Amazon cancelling a full season. Plenty of people have already written about it, so I shall focus on why I liked the ending, and why it is a happy one to me. The first time I watched, I spent most of the first hour or so confused and struggling to get into the story. Not because I did not care about what happened, or about the characters. But when you butcher a full season, chop it off into wee pieces, and then cram as many of those as possible into a 90 minutes film, what can be expected? Then came the bookshop at the end of the world. Do I wish there had been a sign of physical affection between A & C, especially in that last part? Yes. A holding C's face, or C side-hugging A, for example, would have been lovely. But I don't feel their story, their love, was lacking or less than because there wasn't. I loved the confrontation with God, how A & C got to ask her questions. I loved to see C's passion for humanity as he protested over the unfairness of the whole system, I loved the true grace and evil line. That moment was brilliant. I know some folks expected/wanted a proper explicit love confession. And that is ok! But when A asked "Why give me Crowley? Why make me complete, and then take it away?" (which makes the loving and romantic nature of A's feelings very clear to me), and then when God mentions his love for C, C did not seem to react with surprise. No gasp, no sign that A's feelings were a revelation to him. That, to me, means he already knew A loved him. Their decision to risk annihilation, to sacrifice themselves for the sake of humanity having a true chance, without celestial/divine interference, without heaven and hell, while sad and bittersweet, made 100% perfect sense narratively, and was consistent with A & C's motivations and values since s1e1. Of course, seeing them get dissolved was not a happy moment. And yet. The way A & C said goodbye, holding hands? A kissing his fingers and then touching C's lips? Who then kissed said fingers? Them smiling and looking at each other while they were being dissolved? Wanting each other's face to be the last thing they saw? That was one of the most beautiful, romantic scene I have seen in a long time. Then, as soon as Anthony and Asa appeared on the screen, I started sobbing. Not out of sadness, but because it truly felt to me that they were still A & C. And after everything they had been through, all the opposing forces stacked against them, to see them alive, finding and loving each other, was so beautiful to me I couldn't help but cry with emotion. What exactly made me feel they were still A & C? I couldn't say. Of course, there are some details, like their appearance, and interests, and lines that remind us of past moments, but those are rather superficial. I had not been looking for reasons to believe it was them, I truly felt that way right away. I loved the performance of MS and DT in those final scenes. Amazingly good. I loved the little glimpse we got into their world, and their relationship 20 years later. I understand the wish to have A & C find that happiness together while they were still an angel and a demon. They deserved it 100 000%. And obviously, if you don’t feel/think Asa & Anthony are still A & C, then they will just seem like random strangers you don’t know nor care about who merely look like A & C. But in addition to the feeling I got as I watched S3 the first time, there are a few things that, looking back on it, give me reason to think God did NOT eradicate them and A & C are NOT "dead" (I know gazillions posts have been shared already and I am sure nothing of what I'm about to say is original). In no particular order :
