Very much depends on the art you're doing.

I tend to use a lot of ink, so it's either Bristol Board or watercolour paper.

You also have to check the paper thickness (gsm) and your archival needs.

You need to give more detail about your requirements.

Oh! Smooth Bristol can definitely be pretty ink resistant, which is great if you want the ink too pool up and dry slowly (like for swatches).

For drawing with fountain pens, I have a 140 gsm sketchbook (Talens Art Creation) and it's been fine, dry time is similar to my notebooks for writing.

It occurs to me that I had forgotten to bring this here.

A handmade book, with 260 gsm smooth Bristol-Vellum paper. Dimensions are about 17 cm by 24cm by 5.5 cm (or 6.5" by 9.5" by 2")

Created for various purposes,namely having a surface that would take to wet and dry media,especially calligraphy
A book bound in black leather, purple leather at the spine, wiht marbled purple-black-gold endpapers. The design features a skeletal hand with a hole in the palm on the front, and on the reverse, a form of herringbone design with scalloped edges. Two stylized bone/skeletal gloves are around the book as image props.

Does paper texture and thickness matter when using dip pen? I have Canson watercolor 300 gsm cold press, and it little bit rough on the surface. Never try bristol board.
