Bei hEDS laufen einige Fäden zusammen. Vereinzelt wurde darauf zwar hingewiesen, aber von einer eigentlich angesagten Forschung im angemessen großen Stil ist mir bisher nichts bekannt.
GWAS hEDS - Deutsche Ehlers-Danlos Initiative e. V.

Reassessment of a GWAS study of submergence survival in Arabidopsis highlights new genetic hubs and pathways involved in stress tolerance - Discover Plants
Climate change threatens global crop productivity, making it crucial to understand the genetic basis of plant stress tolerance. A decade ago, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in Arabidopsis thal...

The Svan roots present a few surprises. The Svan word for 'goat' ღვაშ ğwaš has an epenthetic initial /ğ/, an indication of how unstable *w was in Svan. Initial *ḳ also sometimes underwent palatalization to /č̣/ - making Svan look more unusual than it actually is.

The latest #GWAS and trait analysis in #G3journal shows how domestication, demographic bottlenecks, and selective breeding have shaped patterns of homozygosity and contributed to the genetic architecture of complex traits in dogs.

We identified 118 loci in the multi-ancestry GWAS and 9 more in the European-only GWAS (127 total), 48 of which are new. We prioritized 6 potential drug targets: KEAP1, SYK, AXL, RRM2B, and CACNA1S in new loci, and QPCT in a known locus.

Diego took popgen theory and ran tons of simulations to calculate how many samples one needs on various scenarios of population structure, genetic basis - re-running some examples from the literature to estimate thresholds. (we need to stop thinking that GWAS needs >1,000 samples).

Out today in @Nature: our Alzheimer’s disease GWAS of ~2.8M people (~184k cases). We find 48 new loci, ~3x higher SNP-heritability, enrichment in genes up-regulated in microglia and down-regulated in neurons, and we release public summary statistics. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

By integrating the eQTLs from the TenK10K flagship paper (5.4M scRNA-seq and 1925 donors), we substantially improved our understanding of why many GWAS signals did not overlap with eQTL in previous studies.

Comparisons with rodent/human single-cell atlases highlighted specific cell-type markers. Amygdala downregulated genes also overlapped with substance-use-disorder GWAS risk genes. Enrichment ≠ causation—but it gives us directions to test. 4/5

Our estimates are on average ~40% lower than those from twin-based studies yet still quite large and uncounted for by GWAS to date.
