That being very definitely a kids movie, Snyder would have had to pull back his natural inclination toward edginess.
There's a bit on Gahoole in another video essay by Patrick Willems where they break down that the edginess is there, Its just mostly happening just off screen.

They're a lot of fun, full of action, danger, and suspense. Themes of anti white supremacy. Battles and wars.
Theyre incredible.

That def sounds interesting! I used to read so much but fell out of the habit. Have you ever read the warrior cat books? Those and the Guardians of Gahoole owl books were great escapes for me when I was younger and I thought about trying to get a library card and revisiting them.

I haven't read those but I did the see the Guardians of Gahoole movie.
1000% recommend the library card. I used to like asking the librarians what they were reading when I was out of ideas.
