I remember when Gallowboob did an interview basically talking about how he makes bank off selling access. This was after the Unidan controversy too. Feels like there will be a section in how great Reddit was as propaganda tool in the history books.

It's somehow gone more downhill after they banned subs like the donald, probably because moderation got infinitely more difficult after the asinine API changes that made mod bots unsustainable (besides the powermod problem eg gallowboob)

really obsessed that gallowboob, a(n in)famous redditor who farmed insane karma off reposts, has exclusively been posting his dog for the last couple years. he retired to a nice farm upstate where he makes his own home-grown karma farm posts. and i think that's beautiful

I’ve always been a Reddit casual, but I still used it consistently enough to notice shifts.
Probably doesn’t help that they ended up with a professional moderator class like Gallowboob promoting (and likely also editorializing/gatekeeping) so much content.
