He and @philhester.bsky.social were two of the first people in comics who treated me like a fellow creator, which might not sound huge, but was HUGE to me, and I will always love both of them for that.

Can't stress enough how much the world needs less gatekeepers and more gateopeners.

never make fun of someone who hasn't heard of something cool. you get to introduce them to a movie or an album that will change their aesthetic perspective. don't get so excited to act cool that you forget to actually be cool for once

My colleagues are all surprised and many can barely believe it. After all, many effortlessly got contracts with the Cornells and Dukes of the world (the two go-to presses for this kind of work). What this shows is that credentialism and networking are the main gateopeners, for sure.
