Ernest Hemingway, William Carney, Edward Knoblaugh, Louis Delaprée, Martha Gellhorn, and H. R. Knickerbocker among so many other journalists during the Spanish civil war would have a word about that; oh, they already did.

For centuries, we said, "a reporter," because reporters were significantly male, with few exceptions. Martha Gellhorn was a notable exception. Now, it's "a female reporter" when it should be just reporter. It doesn't matter whether it's a woman or a man. It's the subject and the truth that matters.

Martha Gellhorn was not embedded with the troops and circumvented a ban on female journos covering the landing. More to the point, *male* reporters accompanied the troopes - but their reports were heavily censored.

Journalist Martha Gellhorn covered the Soviet-Finnish War for American media. As seen from her records, in the 85 years since, nothing has changed in the propaganda and conduct of military operations by the Russians.

"They insisted they were not fighting the Finns, but a group of conspirators."

Can you imagine Martha Gellhorn or Edward R. Murrow palling around with Himmler during World War II?

Because that is the equivalent of what Kristen Welker is doing here.

And most—if not all—of the journalists that attended the WHCD last night are no better.

You’re either free or you’re captured.
NBC's kristen welker was caught laughing it up with Stephen Miller.

Stephen Miller who architected the family separation policy.
Stephen Miller who pushed the Muslim travel ban.
Stephen Miller who oversaw the killing of Americans by ICE agents.

This is why independent media is crucial.

Just read a thing where someone was asking, “Is it possible to live and write like Hemingway did now?”

The missing element from most people’s explanations is how much Pauline Pfeiffer bankrolled his lifestyle before he left her for Martha Gellhorn.

So yeah, you could if you wanted to be a shit.
