Correction: I'm looking it up and the Gemini protocol is *without* images. I knew there was something about images.

To clarify, Gemini is an alternative to https. You'd type gemini://website.com to reach a gemtext file.

Sorry, I'm going way off topic.

if another of nintendo's consoles gets hacked because of a browser exploit they're probably just going to be like "you know what, fuck it, since you all couldn't handle that privilege responsibly, the only thing you'll be browsing is gemtext. deal with it"

Think of it as the web before it got complicated. Pages are written in "gemtext", a minimal markup […]

Just for fun, I thought I would write a #gemtext reader in #php. I'm pretty happy with it. Once I have tested it a bit, I'll post it for you all to play with.

I've bumped #Gemtext to v1.0.0, adding support for grabbing the alt-text of pre-formatted text: blog.davep.org/2026/07/16/g...

Gemtext v1.0.0
I've bumped Gemtext to v1.0.0. I've gone from "this is test code" to "this is stable code" mostly because the library is so simple and I'm unlikely to add any radically new features to it1.
