Something that always stands out to me about ideas like "passing privilege" is that they reflect the tendency to think of oppression strictly in terms of one-on-one interactions. But really oppression is a lot bigger and more systematic than that, and that includes transphobia and transmisogyny.

Trans people ARE actually the gender they say they are. This is why social and medical transition is a thing.

It's why the clinical language around transsexuality emphasized gender dysphoria for so long - why transition was gatekept from so many of us unless we could document the distress that we felt from a strong mismatch between our internal gender and our assigned gender.

It's a recurring issue with the Church that a lack of lay inclusion in leadership leads to insane mismatch between congregations and their pastors/bishop.
Though, there were a few odd sexists who thought it would be crazy to stop being oddly and unnecessarily gender exclusive.

Sage went through conversion therapy, sadly. I’m supportive of detransitioners in general—I sympathize with not feeling joy in your gender presentation and/or a mismatch in identity. But I hate it when they’re used in bad faith for political points, voluntarily or otherwise.

if you haven't legally changed your gender on your birth certificate or with social security, you can usually still get one with the wrong gender marker.
but if you have updated either/both of those, or had a different gender passport in the past, they'll look for a mismatch and flag you.

I saw a reference yesterday to trans people becoming "non-compliant" wrt to mismatch between IDs and paperwork, and my tattoo fucking ITCHED.

I do think (as a non-cis person) that cis people can feel a form of gender dysphoria. My cis husband rarely plays male characters in video games because the masculinity they are designed to represent makes him feel deeply uncomfortable. A mismatch between who he is and who they say he should be.

A mismatch of identifying information on the 4473, including gender between that and your government ID, will deny you a sale. It's going to be really interesting to see how this sticks and if it's remotely even able to be enforced at all.

2-FINAL/ Straight Millennials can sort on this question pretty easily - only a 2% mismatch. For Gen Z, the mismatch is 18%. For Gen X, it's 6%, and for Boomers, it's 12%. Quite interesting to me that for Millennials, gender relations basically moved in the same direction but they haven't for others.
