something I miss from Genericon that I've never seen at another convention (locally) is that they'd set up several lecture halls as theaters and had anime showing for the entire weekend, even over night

It's exciting to see AFO grow instead of dying. As long as it doesn't become an Orange County Convention Center Genericon, (MegaCon) then 👍.
Now I'm wondering how much it's going to cost to stay there. 😬

The first time I hosted a panel at an anime con (Genericon 2016) it was a technical nightmare, I was on zero sleep, and the massive room I was in to give a talk about Gekiga manga had about 20 attendees in total. I wouldn’t have given that up for the world.

Ha. Okay, just checked the Erstattungskodex and Genericon-branded ibuprofen dispensed with a prescription costs the Kasse €6,80 for 50x400mg. Crazy system where even the krankenkasse is overpaying like that. (Genericon is a manufacturer of generics based in Graz). The NHS pays £2.50 for 84!
