Thanks for the trip down a rabbit hole. Seems very on brand for you and @glengrambo.bsky.social and your family to be exploring geoparks where "sites and landscapes of international geological significance are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development."

Algarvensis recebe certificado de Geoparque da UNESCO
A entrega do certificado pelo Conselho Executivo da Global Geoparks Network (GGN) assinalou a integração do Algarvensis nesta rede internacional, após a ratificação do reconhecimento pela UNESCO, em abril de 2026, em Paris. Desde 2018, a Câmara Municipal de Albufeira participa na construção deste projeto, em cooperação com os municípios de Loulé e Silves, a associação responsável pela gestão do geoparque, parceiros, comunidades, escolas, investigadores e instituições do território. Durante a Conferência Europeia de Geoparques, foram apresentados projetos e iniciativas desenvolvidos no Algarvensis. As comunicações e os trabalhos deram a conhecer a intervenção do geoparque nas áreas da ciência, educação, ambiente e turismo, num espaço de partilha de conhecimentos e experiências entre territórios.

🤝 Last week we were pleased to visit Arran for the annual meeting of the UK Committee for UNESCO Global Geoparks. As well as learning from colleagues around the country, we updated the committee on our own work towards UNESCO status.

🌳 This week we were pleased to welcome representatives of the UK Committee for UNESCO Global Geoparks to Charnwood Forest.
🤝 Our guests had the chance to experience the wonders of our Geopark, meeting partners and our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who supported the visit.
