Occidental has a play on this with their fracking wells. Smaller scale heat/power at just 2km deep, but geotherm is a continuum and there are multiple plays appearing.

A maxim in geology, specifically igneous, is "to complicate, just add water" (aluminum would also work). But where is that water stored in the deep earth? Iron oxyhydroxides might be a reservoirs. 🧪⚒️

In this article we explore the idea that shallowly emplaced magma plays a large role in resetting chronometers and also changing the geotherm, which informs our interpretations of exhumation rates. We use a thermokinematic model, Pecube-D, to emplace heat similar to what is predicted for intrusions

If you accept SpaceX estimates for future launch costs per kg, assume steep learning curve cost reductions for in-space assembly, and assume that terrestrial competitors stay in 2022 forever (not only batt but nuke, geotherm, etc), SPS can look plausible

You are thinking of heat pumps, not geothermal power plants.
"Geothermal" on its own refers to the latter and is entirely related to how the long-term tectonic history of a place has played out.
The geotherm--the rate the temperature increases with depth on the kilometer scale--is what matters.
