GeoFeeds: Now with MCP
It's been about a year since we rolled out GeoFeeds, a spatial new aggregator along the lines of the old Planet Geospatial. During that time, it's been humming along, and we've added about 90 blog feeds to it. It provides a single, rolling, aggregated feed of posts from those blogs over the previous year. I've been impressed by the surge is RSS feeds over that time. If you have a blog or feed related to geospatial, personal or corporate, you can simply add an issue to the repo, including the title, and feed URL, and it will get added to the OPML.

GeoFeeds Is Online

I've missed Planet Geospatial. I've missed it so much that I messaged James the other day and said we should get it going again. He wholeheartedly agreed and then started going on about perfectly valid stuff like not wanting to wrestle with 15-year-old Python 2.x code and such.…

I've missed Planet Geospatial. I've missed it so much that I messaged James the other day and said we should get it going again. He wholeheartedly agreed and then started going on about perfectly valid stuff like not wanting to wrestle with 15-year-old Python 2.x code and such. So I built something in Node. Blogs (and I'll lump Substack into that category) are where the good stuff happens, but they are so scattered in 2025.

The conversation around AI in the geospatial community has been evolving rapidly over the past couple of months. I pulled together a summary of what I've been seeing and reading.

‘VPN providers don't actually maintain a crazy amount of infrastructure in hundreds of countries. They simply fake the IP geolocation by intentionally providing wrong location data to ARIN, RIPE, and Geo DB providers via geofeeds.’

@jamesfee.bsky.social and I finally got the URL working for GeoFeeds. The old URL still works, so there's no need to update your aggregator, but geofeeds.me/feed is a lot easier to remember.

So @jamesfee.bsky.social and I have been working to get something akin to Planet Geospatial running again. It's currently aggregating about 28 blog feeds and we'll be adding more. We're working on getting a cleaner domain, but you can start accessing it here: whale-app-k5eg5.ondigitalocean.app/feed

@geobabbler.bsky.social Hi Bill, Thanks for setting up geofeeds.me/view, very cool. I also started blogging again last month with my own blog blog.heuel.org. It would be great if you could add it to GeoFeeds, blog.heuel.org/feeds/all.at... resp blog.heuel.org/feeds/all.rs.... Thank you!
