We have improved our links with the Allmaps project, so that any of our maps can be freely, collaboratively georeferenced and then brought back into our Georeferenced Maps viewer 🗺️

Lake Superior Coast Chart No. 7 with a modern elevation profile added. I've never done one of these maps before, and think this turned out nice for my first one.
The hardest part was figuring out the now defunct American Polyconic Projection in order to georeference everything.

So when there are developments in areas that are poorly mapped by MIMU I'll import the MIMU Dataset, the topo maps and georeference all the missing place names to import into my master map

Phase 2 will run over the next few months where the project will: clean the metadata, stitch together scanned images (as required) and georeference the digitised maps ahead of depositing a copy with the Nation Library of Scotland online maps collection.

I tried measuring stuff straight off the map, but the results were too inaccurate. For some reason Sjöstedt's 1905 expedition to German East Africa did not get their coordinates with a GPS, in WGS84. 😎

Four days into my new job and “here are 26 new projects. They all need multiple maps and the client didn’t provide shapefiles, so you’ll need to georeference the plans and draw them yourself.”

Can't stress enough how much fun @maprva.org's new project is. I spent like 30min on it the other day just fucking around. Feels like a great Richmond-specific alternative to doomscrolling!

And here it is, 91cm/pixel KH-9 satellite imagery of Mt St. Helens from July 1975.
Getting a good georeference around the top of the mountain was pretty tricky but I think it's close enough!
