On further review, maybe geotech would use a plastic core barrel liner? I’m less familiar with that, I’ve never seen it done but I haven’t seen a lot of geotech investigations. My sense is they don’t usually care enough to use a liner

As a geologist who prepares geotech reports, you'd probably be shocked to find out that a decent number of SFR clients try to submit for permits w/o getting a geotech report first, so it ALWAYS gets rejected in any city.

I had a fantastic visit to Geotech Environmental Equipment, Inc. today where I toured the facility and engaged in discussions about how tariffs are impacting their business. I’m excited to see innovative companies like this driving progress in Colorado!

The decision made my blood boil. The City focused the environmental on views because that was the only impact. The idea that the report should have covered geotech, noise, or bio resources (in Midway?!) more thoroughly than they did is ludicrous.

I talked to my boss on Monday and told her that between the 2.5 hours of daily commuting and all the field work, I’m really unhappy at my job. Im going on vacation in early April so I have about 3 more weeks and then I’m quitting. I’ve realized the geotech field just isn’t a good fit for me.

Idk if anything about the normal fed procurement process holds here but it looks like archaeology to me - geotech wouldn’t use a plastic core barrel or screen half in an arch screen. Not hard to find unscrupulous firms tho - AECOM is the ballroom engineer and has a big midatlantic CRM presence

I work in critical infrastructure projects and what Robert is saying is correct. Unless you get a shovel in the ground and start building, it is effectively Dead.
I don’t care if you 100% design something or even do geotech sampling as part of design, it, is, dead.

There's been a lot of discussion about bringing transit projects to 100% design.
The Center City Connector has been at 100% design for nearly ten years. It was almost fully funded, with a $75 million federal funding agreement. Pre-construction work had even begun.

The ACoW was involved in approving micrositing of tracks & towers and especially for significant infrastructure movements that were managed under a design change mechanism; their input was akin to a mini EIA - along with ECoW, Hydro, Geotech etc.

I had an interview today for a geotech project manager position and during it I said something about how “yeah, I’m used to going out to site and poking the dirt.” As soon as I said it, I saw the interviewers eyes shot at me and I immediately knew I made the mistake of calling soil dirt.

No easy fix to clean up the slide on SR 971 South Lakeshore Rd near Chelan. Our geotech team reviewed the site and is working on a plan but it's not going to happen overnight. Road remains closed from the state park to Scenic Ranch Lane, detour is Navarre Coulee Rd. @wspd6pio
