My dad had a Karmann Ghia when I was in grade school. He convinced Mom he had to have one--we were a 2-car family in the mid-60s when it was rare. He searched the paper for a used one for sale, ours had a red body, white roof. Lovely car. He sold it when we as a 3 person family could no longer fit!

My first car was a 58 ghia I bought for $300 back in ‘70.
Dropped a new engine, did some fiber work to reduce the rusty holes, painted it bright orange.
We had a blast in that thing for almost 2 years.
I used to do dirt track drift racing in it.
Glides well.

Fun fact. I had the extreme pleasure to own a 1966 Karmann-Ghia, for about 2 years until the engine threw a rod, putting a hole through the engine block. God, I loved that car.

I know Amber and Brad had other things on their minds at the time but I’m disappointed they didn’t ask Robert if he had the 2.8 Ghia Granada Velux or just the 2.3 GL. Missed opportunity that was.
