I kinda feel that, I think there's a relative level of an arms race in sci-fi that's massively unspoken at play. Guided munitions seem relatively specialized and gimballed or fixed weapons seem to miss a lot, for example, and that speaks to a massive ECM situation going on in my mind.

Combat is definitely not really a focus for nms, but I still find it fun.
It seems some ship weapons are gimballed while others aren't? I just dusted off an old ship and while it does a lot of damage when it hits, it doesn't have gimbals, so it's harder to actually land shots.

Oh my gosh an eternal discount at a marine supply, what a dream.
I have no use for a gimballed sailboat stove, but I still dream about the one at trotac just cause it was so beautifully&exactly fit-for-purpose! And everything there is like that, precise and perfect for a specific use: satisfying.

I loved LADY (there were statistically significant walkouts so caveat emptor) but on behalf of the shakycam intolerant I would just note for the benefit of mockumentarians that actual documentaries now are always gimballed up the wazoo and nothing looks like that anymore.

So there are in fact scanner heads for like, professional 6-axis CNC machines that do this, and if it's just a home 3D printer you don't even need LIDAR or anything fancy you can just put a little gimballed camera on the print head and do photogrammetry coupled with camera position information

nah, the ship has floors inside it on semi gimballed tracks(can rotate each floor up to 5 degrees) that spin to simulate 0.6g gravity, 5 degrees incline being exactly enough to counteract the thrust gravity(0.05 gees thrust), but its a ramscoop design to operate in space indefinitely

Went over to a hazres to test it out after all modifications had been made. Yes, I do believe that gimballed burst lasers works better, despite the lower damage and constant chaff spammed by the more "skilled" enemies.

I was thinking about it (along with pimp hammers), but I decided on gimballed weapons for hull chewing to be able to use them simultaneously with the fixed beams.
