After all the fanfare and expense of bringing Giráldez to the US, he doesn't even last a full year.
No matter what the reasons behind this, it's a bad look for Michele Kang's soccer empire and a crappy way to treat the Spirit, especially players who were apparently recruited to play for Giráldez.

On the field, the Spirit should navigate this surprise coaching change well.
Off of it? Losing Giráldez — specifically to another Kynisca team in OL Lyonnes, while limiting questions over the move — could be corrosive in a perception battle the team can't lose.

It’s genuinely insane to me Giraldez is handling media right now, talking about the difficult conditions of his own imminent departure
Having to sum up a longer answer, but Jona Giráldez says this was "more than 3 points" due to a complicated week involving the news of his departure, players returning from intl. duty, the humid conditions, & a game plan that demanded a lot of high-intensity actions to open up NC.

Barely a year with Giráldez at the helm. Man, this is just cruel.

Jonatan Giráldez will, as reported, transition to becoming head coach of OL Lyonnes. He will coach 6/9 vs. NC, 6/15 at Portland and 6/22 at San Diego. González begins July 18.

Ridiculous substitution from Giráldez, especially for Shrader.
