I will be building a few of these probably this winter. One for my beads. One for metal. One for glassworking. I'll have a lot of space for yarn and other fibers.
Woodworking will be a new skill

First glass class I assistant taught was a CE class in which 5 of the students were lefties. They challenged the instructor to make a piece left-handed and the whole glassworking bench had to be rearranged. Turns out all actual hot glass tools are ambidextrous except for the shears, of course.

I haven't done any glassworking myself yet, just read a lot, but I've read soda-lime glass tends to have a nice balance of being cheap, but also easy to work with: the "solid enough to stay on a pipe but liquid enough to work" temperature zone isn't as wide as lead glass but its pretty good.

Hey Nora, got a quick question for you about glassworking...

Are kilns really heating that hot off of electric heating elements? Or do they use extra fuel?

I know it's a silly question but I'm having trouble understanding what i googled for the question.

Thanks in advance! 💜

Well, we definitely have ancient volcanic activity here - it's the Dunnottar Castle Conglomerate Formation webapps.bgs.ac.uk/lexicon/lexi... I'd be astounded if it were slag glass given there's no historical glassworking there.
