Staff confirmed the city submitted a $10.6 million state budget appropriation request for the library on Sept. 4 and will pursue grants and other avenues while acknowledging awards are competitive and discretionary.

City staff told the Glendora City Council the Public Library needs targeted structural and waterproofing work now and broader modernization if the council wants to pursue it; estimates range from roughly $3.2M for defined structural repairs (construction only) to tens of millions for expansion, and council directed staff to refine scenarios and pursue grants, returning Nov. 10.

The board approved revisions to Administrative Policy 4.05 (collection development) to add language required by the California Freedom to Read Act, consolidate redundant sections, and add guidance on local-author materials, third-party resources and artificial intelligence; the vote was unanimous.

Library managers told trustees Baker & Taylor will close in January 2026; Glendora staff are working with other vendors, expect mixed vendor solutions, will install two new self-checkout machines Nov. 3, and will receive a kitchen demonstration cart funded by the Friends Foundation for monthly programming.
