Meanwhile, I'm taking today to be creative. I got a new (to me) loom! I sold the Glimakra drawloom to an up-and-coming alpaca shepherdess/yarn vendor and got myself a smaller loom: a used Louët Spring I. I've cleaned it up, fixed it up and getting it warped now.

Oh I have had it for years (well, I grafted the Toika dobby onto a Glimakra standard in 2017-ish) and I love it! I just figured while I was up there oiling I should take some video. Now all I need is for it not to be 80-some degrees in October…

I'm trying to transition away from FB. But if you're on that platform, the floor loom FB groups are usually quite helpful. That's where I learned which books I needed. (I have a Glimakra, generously given t9 me by a friend.)

Another rainy day means I might be weaving. The striped cotton warp is a project by my current student, and the white warp is a test drive for an antique loom recently arrived. A robin nesting in the studio windowsill is not happy I'm around, and dives at me when I pass nearby.

Hmmm...maybe not really much setup instructions in this one, but some? What kind of loom are you using? Glimakra has a good pdf about CB loom setup (trying and failing to give you a link to this)

hi @merriam-webster.com , I noticed you have no entry for demurre, as in "m-w's lexicographers are very chill and demurre". It means to remove the murre and other black-and-white pelagic birds, such as from the definition of loom 💔

I spent Saturday weaving wool and talking with hundreds of people. I finished the weaving on Sunday morning and now will full it before making it into a hood.

You can *also* have and use a loom, it is absolutely Allowed.
And there are smaller looms in the world than, say, my mother's Glimåkra Ideal (6' x 6' x 6' basically) that now lives with my weaving auntie

That's coming up on my list, working up from 2S (Rep Weave & Indian Style Saddle Blanket throw) to 3S(Krokbragd) on my new Glimakra 10S loom. Planning a rug/wall hanging depending on how it turns out. Small samples make great trivets. Works for table runners too.

That's coming up on my list, working up from 2S (Rep Weave & Indian Style Saddle Blanket throw) to 3S(Krokbragd) on my new Glimakra 10S loom. Planning a rug/wall hanging depending on how it turns out. Small samples make great trivets. Works for table runners too.

Schöner Webstuhl! Ich bin auch versucht, wieder das Weben anzufangen. Leider ist es schwer als nebenher Hobby, es braucht einfach Platz und Einsatz/Zeit. Vielleicht erstmal ein Webrahmen, aber da ist man so schnell an den Grenzen. Mein glimakra ist auseinandergebaut. Zu groß.

Managed the registration and timing at the Sparbanksloppet race in Glimåkra. A small race with 119 participants, and true to my habit, I implemented a few efficiency improvements. Most things worked well, but there are a few adjustments I need to make for next year.

Yes, they take up a lot of space. The Glimakra was the size of 6 refrigerators pushed together with the overhead beams. It’s easy to collect spinning wheels, for sure.

Have fun! My 45” Lillstina floor loom is in storage at my mom’s. Just can’t see making that noise in an apartment. Also had a Glimakra at one point. I learned to spin, weave, and dye at 15 when I worked at a restored homestead. I came to knitting late.

My beautiful, dependable Glimakra swift. Even if I didn't have a ball winder, it would be my favorite tool.
