This drives me nuts when people start screaming about “purity tests” on the left. What purity tests? Compared to the “denounce global intifada!” demand that makes no sense.
The only people imposing purity tests on this race have been Mamdani's critics, who amplified the stupid "why won't he denounce a phrase he never used?" smear. Lander refused to take the bait and changed the subject to Mamdani's record in office. That's good!

"Global intifada" more accurately translates to the title of a fun catchy Taylor Swift song than it does to almost anything else
Etymologically, it means “to shake off,” which one should do with military occupations. Remember how hysterical people in the US got over madrasas, where young Muslim men were all learning how to become terrorists? Well, madrasa is just the Arabic word for school.

Yep. The only "misspoke" is that she claimed entirely spuriously that he'd called for "global jihad" before being called on it, then moving on to claim—falsely again!—that he'd called for "global intifada." It was lies and bullshit all the way down.
If you listen to the actual audio, it's very clear that she didn't misspeak. She was told she was wrong, but she refused to listen and continued to double and triple down.
The least she can do is apologize and endorse the Democratic nominee even though he's Muslim. Whether she will is unclear.
