Good morning from an extremely gravid green lynx spider! (Nine days later, I found her on her egg sac.)

Gravid female green lynx spider, Peucetia viridans, her abdomen plump like a berry. Her cephalothorax and abdomen are light green, with a white chevron pattern on her dorsal abdomen, and her long thin legs are translucent pale yellow with black spikes. She's head down along a geranium stem, in my back yard. Photo by me, Sept. 5 2022. I found her with the egg sac 9 days later.

Wonderful photo! I love Santa Barbara. (I live down in Vista, but I used to spend some time in Santa Barbara when I drove up the coast for vacation.) And it's never a bad time for a sleepy cat IMO. This is Jackson.

Good afternoon and happy #Arachtober, from a banded garden orbweaver, Argiope trifasciata, 12mm long (body). She was hanging out in a weedy lot not far from my home.

Good afternoon!
Stiffbranch bird's beak, Cordylanthus rigidus, Calavera Nature Reserve

Flowers of stiffbranch bird's beak, Cordylanthus rigidus. Flower is a flattened heart-like shape with the point outward, with white petals and a yellow point, and never opens much. It puts me in mind of a baby bird head. The flowers are surrounded by light green hairy vegetation. July 15 2025 photo taken by me in Calavera Ecological Reserve.

Hello!

Female green lynx spider, Peucetia viridans, pale green body with darker green chevrons, medium green cephalothorax, and yellow translucent legs with black hairs. Her abdomen looks very plump, so she was most likely gravid (full of eggs). She's perched on a goldenbush plant (Isocoma menziesii), which has clusters of bright yellow flowers. Green lynx spiders often live and reproduce on goldenbush, which attracts lots of the honeybees they like to eat. From San Elijo Ecological Reserve. September 20 2024 photo by me.
