A spooky, dark, monochrome shot from the ground path leading up to the Bush House in Salem, Oregon. Once inhabited by one of Salem’s most prominent families, it is now a museum and art center where. Many people have reported cold spots, strange shadows moving where nobody was, whispers, and a woman screaming or crying out. I’ve never experienced any of that there, but… maybe it’s true? I’ve certainly been in Miss Sally’s greenhouse and gardens by myself to take pictures, and have occasionally felt - not exactly alone. Nothing menacing, just… not alone. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I took this from under the basaltic rock overhang, looking back at the trickle of waterfall, slow from the drought, as it falls into the pool below. The overhang looks like a jagged, black tear in the blue sky. Thick forest and greenery cover the other side of the “bowl” into which the waterfall drops.

A tangle of shaggy, silhouetted branches and twigs against a blue sky, but with a central, sun-illuminated cluster of golden yellow walnut leaves. You can’t see it here, but on the path beneath the tree, squirrel-picked-over walnut fruits and nuts littered the area, reminding me of the black walnut puddle I had to jump almost every day to get to the library at the UofO. The tree is still there (thank goodness), but the broken sidewalk has been fixed in the many years since I was a student there.
