The "Godmasters" were initially unliving machines bonded to human partners in the Super God-Masterforce cartoon, at the end of the series, the death of Devil Z severed the connection, turning the Transtectors into true Cybertronians who left to join the greater cause.

Looking at these & comparing them to their Autobot partners?
Thinking the Autobot Power/Godmasters were a separate set of molds from the bigger bots. Joyride and Slapdash got no dark gray on em, and none of the Autos have those limb colors on em.
Deceps seem to be gang-molded w/ their partners.

Got a couple of figures on clearance in a toy aisle and coincidentally enough, it's 2 bots who were at one point leaders of their faction, Bludgeon and Metalhawk. Pretty snazzy figures that I put a little panel line and gunmetal markings over to bring out more details.

Even with something like powermasters/godmasters, the ability to go back to robot mode being locked behind access to the cooperating party is interesting. The name of the game becomes “you need Me to be allowed to be a person again.”

'Transformers: Super-God Masterforce' re-watch, episode 9. 'A Fierce Battle!! The Autobots Are In Trouble'. A much better episode this time around, and the power of the Godmasters seems much more formidable.

Onwards with 'Transformers: Super-God Masterforce' with episode 16, entitled 'Lightfoot: A Dramatic Encounter'. Another step in the finding the Godmasters plotline, but with some odd padding and a slightly odd change in direction half way.
