this story is extremely wild, major investigation from @josephcox.bsky.social:

www.404media.co/manifestos-f...
Andy Yen, the CEO of Proton, had a message for an employee in the company’s security Slack channel who urged the company to at least take a few days to pentest newly written code before pushing it live. “That’s bullshit and loser thinking. Of course it’s possible to be fast and secure,” Yen wrote in the channel at the end of August. “Stop thinking always of how to be slower, and focus more on how to be faster.” In a follow-up message, Yen reiterated his point: “only losers think like that.” His ultimate message for the team was to “stop lovingly handcrafting all our code and use AI more.”

Hey everyone! So I wanted to make a quick note on this!

I appreciate anyone who is making notes about indenting, or spaces...but I didn't upload this in 30 seconds to GoogleDrive for formatting critiques 😇

I just wanted to host it for my readers! I love COMMENTS, good and bad! Please leave those ❤️

Do any of you nerds know what multiple times a day #googledrive says "Folder Location Changed" and my system stalls - is it #onedrive fighting for control? What is going on?

So when you put a bunch of fanfiction into a #GoogleDrive and start passing it around on social media, that gets uncomfortably close to being “mass distribution” which is against #ArchiveOfOurOwn TOS.

Progressively more and more of my #GoogleDrive screen is just traps that, when triggered, activate a desperate, sweaty, full-screen, full-court press to get me to use some useless, #Gemini #AI bullshit nobody wanted or asked for 🪤

IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS WAY 💥

Alt: I think this is someone who activated someone else's trap card (probably that simple bitch Yugi) (I think that's Yu-Gi-Oh!'s semi-titular character's name)

I’m starting to see discussions about the ethics of sharing fics on Googledrive because yes, I get it… much like reposting fanart, removing direct links to the creator is a bit rubbish.

But AO3 is GONE for 2-4 weeks so we’re all relying on downloads and other sources anyway.

BUT I will say…

Hey! just a heads up! I do not use google drive and do not want my fics in it! If during this ao3 thing uou see my fics please help me get them removed! Yes ai is everywhere, but there is a difference from someone stealing my work and someone throwing it to ai on purpose!

Google Classroom creates a folder for each class. And a folder for each assignment that has student work submitted. What happens if you delete this folder in Google Drive?

@archiveofourown.org needs to turn downloads off now and when they get back online. So many people downloading fics and then reuploading them to cagey sites and GoogleDrive getting them scraped by AI WITHOUT authors' consent? Yeah, remove that option, please.

From #GoogleDrive to #Syncthing over #Tailscale

I used #Dropbox, then switched to Google Drive. Both worked for most of my files. One file never fit, though: my #KeePass password database. After one annoyance too many, I moved it to Syncthing over Tailscale. The rest stays on Google Drive, for now.
