#Greedy-Supermarkets
These greedy supermarkets, with foreign shareholders, have been raking in massive profits while screwing over food producers for decades. And now they’re crying over a farm tax? F*ck them. #ukpolitics

Refugees and migrants didn't put up your rent, greedy landlords and property developers did. They didn't double the price of your grocery shopping, the supermarkets did. They didn't hike your energy prices, the oil & gas companies did.

like don't get me wrong the guys who run the big chain supermarkets are evil greedy capitalists, but they objectively suck ass at it. it's a really tough business to make money in within my lifetime.

a weird thing about this discourse is that sometimes people will be like "ah yes those greedy supermarkets grabbing ever increasing profits" and tbh its like one of the least-profitable retail sectors in the country, just three decades in a row of getting annihilated by costco and walmart
Also, the margins are thin (like 1% thin) which makes them vulnerable. In New York, they have to compete with more profitable businesses for real estate space (and they require more space which is hard to find)

Rachel Reeves’ legacy as chancellor: insisting that the rising price of fuel was nothing to do with a shortage caused by the Iran war and was actually supermarkets being greedy

Imagine if Canadians who are sick of being pawns in greedy schemes from our own supermarkets, boycotted 1 week... how much $ loss could talk...

I’m going to plan how I can buy my food from local shops, fishmongers (if I can find one) and farms. And stop buying from Supermarkets. I’m going to move to more veg (long overdue). I’m so pissed off with the greedy supermarkets. I exclude Waitrose at this time.

American supermarkets often operate on wafer-thin margins. Companies like Kroger and Albertsons collected just 1% of their sales in operating profits last year
Don’t blame supermarkets for your expensive groceries

😡 The utter hypocrisy of Stuart Rose telling us to be less greedy after a career working for supermarkets who try to lure us into buying and wasting food

Alienation on steroids.
Minimum wage goes up, what do the greedy CEOs of supermarkets do?
Sack workers and replace them with robots.

When will they get it into their thick skulls that the problem is not immigration. We can start with Thatcher selling off housing stock and Privatising all Public Services. Then we have greedy banks, supermarkets, billionaires, greedy landlords, austerity & Brexit FFS

Oooh!
Socialism.
Me likey!!
Buy direct; cut out the greedy middle men.
Keep a close eye on this social experiement.
We used to call them local, independent mercantiles or grocery stores.
Traditionally family owed; community operated.
Before the megachain supermarkets ran them all out of business.
You Want More Mayor Mamdani, ok........

The Branston 'sausages' in their beans are much nicer than the Heinz ones. I would never have known this if the greedy bastard supermarkets hadn't jacked up the prices of any vaguely 'premium' brand.

Australia's staggeringly greedy and intensely profitable supermarkets are causing the cost of living crisis. Inflation has been driven up by profiteering. #auspol #TaxTheSupemarkets
“The price of apples has shot up in the past year because of supply shortages..but the major supermarkets took a big chunk of the profit..the price paid for apples in the shops grew at a significantly higher rate than the price that was paid to the grower”

Who is taking the biggest cut of the apple profits?
Growers are welcoming higher prices for apples, but say they want the ACCC to better police the relationship between major supermarkets and farmers.

Thought for today before I go to work.

Once you see through the bullshit & how the system actually works, always in favour of the rich & greedy, you see it everywhere.

Why do you always have betting shops, bargain booze shops, local mini supermarkets (costing a fortune) in poor areas?

It is...

Just nonsense fuelled by the billionaire owned media, Lord Rothermere tax exile via the Daily Mail etc. Problem too many brain dead people worried about 20% of their income and not the 80% taken from them through greedy profiteers, in energy, supermarkets, water, banks.

@lbc.co.uk France has capped Food prices. Not up 50 items but includes 1000's of items. Disappointed in Henry Reily not to have someone on from the SNP & allow greedy fatted Tories on slagging off the idea

It makes sense. Of course!
But now the greedy gluttons who own the supermarkets will shut down the self scanners and have only 2 lanes available 24/7 every day of the year.

Something the UK could do if its shopping were not controlled by greedy supermarkets like Tesco.

#Starmer, if he had any bollocks would #WindfallTax the greedy supermarkets.

But of course, he won't. He's on their side & not ours. #Labour doesn't care.
"Tesco has said that it expected annual profit to be higher than first thought, in the region of £2.9bn to £3.1bn."
"Sainsbury's profit to exceed £1 billion, following a better-than-anticipated half-year performance."

How much food waste is simply because people can't afford to buy it? Because it's overpriced by greedy supermarkets or because they don't get enough money welfare payments or they spend all their money on rent?

What MUST happen is a nationwide BOYCOTT of ALL of these greedy corporations/supermarkets/restaurants. Once they have NO customers then the prices will come down. Way down. There is NO other recourse.
