As the European elections approach, hundreds of sustainability experts believe that the European Green Deal will be maintained by the new European Commission, but its agenda is likely to be weakened. 

Sustainability experts hold weak confidence about the EU institutions implementing the European Green Deal’s objectives, with the new priorities weakening or narrowing the EGD agenda. Despite identifying some challenges and spillovers, the external impact of the Green Deal is widely recognised as positive.

After four successful editions, we have just launched the fifth edition of the European Green Deal Barometer with a special focus on the Green Deal’s external dimension. This IEEP’s annual publication gathers the views of sustainability experts on the developments and progress of the Green Deal. The survey is open until 5 March.
