Their captain, Samba, is an eccentric one. Sporting a kraken shaped belt buckle, he very heavily leans into the pirate aesthetic and LOVES doing so. Near the start of the story, he loses an arm and a leg, which he replaces with a harpoon gun and a pegleg.

If I manage to write it it’s going to be my dream Grelliam where she is a kind of broken and dangerous person but loves Will sincerely, while he is both really angry at how impulsive she can be and trying to get over the belief that he is unremarkable and would basically just slow her down.

I’m told it was once very common in Grelliam fic for Grell to get hurt and for Will to realize that he cares and listen, I do love that, but I also want to write a version of that where Will gets hurt and realizes she’s not just doing all that as a bit—she really cares about him.

This started as a pre-Grelliam and past-RedGrell fic, but evolved to be more gen as it focused more on Grell and What's Going On Inside That Head. You can probably still see the ships if you squint (and to me is the background/context), but it's not needed.
