Since my post, I watched the sequence from the video showing the GreyJacketMan from the front. He grabbed the gun and the shooter saw it & was grabbing his pistol. When GreyJacket turned to leave, Shooter 1 took a shot into Alex's back, stepped to his left and fired three more times into his back.

And honestly, the shooter was very cavalier about it. One minute, he's harassing the women. The next, he watches GreyJacket take Alex's gun while he grabs his own pistol, steps in & shoots. Moves to the left as Alex's body seizes upwards & shoots him 3 more times in the back. Then...6 more shots.
