Career skills. Intelligence. And, for women, the added “goal” of getting through college without being sexually assaulted. 🎓 Mike Smith’s cartoon makes the imbalance brutally plain. #CampusSafety #SexualAssault #EditorialCartoon #CornellU #GrimCalculus
A Mike Smith editorial cartoon titled “COLLEGE GOALS.” Two male students stand beneath speech bubbles reading “GAIN CAREER SKILLS.” and “BECOME MORE INTELLIGENT.” To the right, a female student sits behind a table marked “CAMPUS SEXUAL ASSAULTS,” with a speech bubble reading “AVOID BECOMING A VICTIM.” The cartoon contrasts ordinary academic aspirations with the added burden of personal safety faced by women on campus, making sexual violence itself part of the grim calculus of attending college.
